Nestled in the heartland of the Niagara Peninsula, just west of Beamsville, the sub-appellation of Beamsville Bench consists of a dozen producers.

The “Bench” is a 600 metre wide, six kilometre-long terrace with deep soil drainage and an optimal microclimate tempered by the continuous currents of air flowing off Lake Ontario.

Alongside being a successful businessman in the audio-visual industry, the dynamic Harald Thiel has a great passion for wine. He accomplished his dream of owning a winery when he started Hidden Bench in 2003. At all levels, sustainable development practices have been put in place to ensure that their work is undertaken with sincere respect for the environment. The winemaking style is traditional, and the philosophy of Hidden Bench is above all to showcase the terroir and its cépages.

The quality of Hidden Bench’s wines is recognized internationally. Matt Kramer of Wine Spectator had recently named it one of Canada’s elite domaines.
